Covering the Community
During our third annual Covering the Community, Reed's Metals provided and installed 6 metal roofs in 5 states to a community member in need. Take a look at our winners and their durable, beautiful new metal roofs!
The winner in the Tupelo area was Betty Blackwood of Saltillo, MS. Ms. Betty was nominated by her sister Kathy, and had no idea she was nominated! Early 2017, Ms. Betty lost her husband and has been having to rely on others to help patch her leaky roof. The patches were no longer holding up and Ms. Betty was running out of options. About receiving a free roof, Ms. Betty said, "All I wanted for Christmas was a new metal roof, and I finally have it!"
The winner in the Jackson area was James & Julie Nold, of Selmer, TN. The Nold's were nominated by their friend and neighbor Jimmie, and they were so excited to receive their free roof! The Nold's are a young married couple with a one-year-old son and have been unable to live in their home due to roof leaks. For the Nold's, a new roof means their family can live their lives in their own home.
We are proud to announce that this year we are able to help multiple families by our team voting for the Avenue of Flags as the recipient of our 2017 Covering the Community project. We are excited about being able to help protect over 1,000 flags that were presented to the families of deceased veterans in our community.
Becky Lewis from Traskwood, Arkansas, was nominated by her sister-in-law without her knowledge. Ms. Lewis inherited her home in ruins, however, it is her first place to own. She has been repairing the house to make it livable, one small piece at a time, all by her self. She was super surprised to have won! In addition to a new metal roof, we had one of our customers - Ready Decks - install a safer, more accessible entry. It gave us a way to cover her entry and keep her dry.
Stephanie Monk, a single mother of 3, was nominated by 7 individuals to receive a brand new metal roof. Ms. Monk has her plate full with her 3 children, one of whom suffers from a heart condition, along with losing her job after an accident resulting in a broken leg. Receiving a brand new metal roof for her already damaged home was such a surprising and welcomed holiday gift!
