Our winner was Miriam Williams from Pearl, MS.

Miriam moved here after her home in New Orleans was destroyed by hurricane Katrina. After relocating here. She continued to find struggles in life. She lost family members, as well as struggled to make ends meet. Even though she was struggling personally, she continued to fundraise and gather donations for various cancer-based charities. The day we were there installing her new roof, she spent worrying about a neighbor that had recently gone through surgery. Miriam Williams is a very deserving person and was a great choice for this year's Covering the Community winner.
