A Saltillo woman was the lucky recipient of a new metal room from Reed’s Metals.

SALTILLO, Miss. (WTVA) – A Saltillo woman was the lucky recipient of a new metal room from Reed’s Metals.

This is the company’s third annual “Covering the Community” project, which provides a new metal roof to a lucky winner.

The company has been collecting nominations for a month from community members. The company’s team members came together to vote on the submissions in order to choose a winner.

Betty Blackwood was announced as the winner on Monday, December 4. She was nominated by her sister.

Blackwood lost her husband earlier this year and has had to ask for help whenever she can to patch her roof.

“To know that there are good people in the world, if you need help, seek it and ask for it, and I thank God and the community and everybody that was involved in it today. I just appreciate everybody. I just love everybody and I’m thankful for them and just blessed,” she said.
